Do You Know the Characteristics and Application Fields of Chromium-Zirconium Copper?

Chromium zirconium copper is the most attractive high-strength, high-conductivity alloy. Due to its excellent physical and mechanical properties, such as good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and weldability, it is widely used in the industrial fields of power, electronics, machinery, and metallurgy. It is a key focus of industrialized countries around the world to research and develop chromium zirconium copper to meet the development of large-scale integrated circuits. With the rapid development of the electronics industry and high-speed trains, higher demands have been placed on the use of copper alloys.

What Is Chromium Zirconium Copper?

Chromium zirconium copper is a type of metal material with the following chemical composition (mass fraction): (Cr: 0.1-0.8, Zr: 0.1-0.6), hardness (HRB78-83), electrical conductivity 43ms/m. Due to the excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, high hardness, wear resistance, anti-cracking properties of chromium zirconium copper, it is widely used in motor commutators, spot welders, seam welders, electrode for spot welders, as well as other high-temperature parts that require strength, hardness, and conductivity. It is easy to weld and has the advantages of low electrode loss, fast welding speed, and low overall welding cost.

Main grade of chromium zirconium copper: C18150

Application Characteristics

Excellent comprehensive properties obtained through cold working and precipitation strengthening treatment; chromium zirconium copper has excellent electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, medium strength, and outstanding stress relaxation resistance and high-temperature softening resistance.

Ningbo Jintian Copper (Group) Co., Ltd. has focused on copper processing for over 30 years and is a leading global supplier of copper and copper alloy materials. It is committed to providing comprehensive copper material solutions for strategic emerging industries such as 5G communication, new energy vehicles, rail transit, smart grids, and smart cities.

What Are the Differences Between Chromium Zirconium Copper and Pure Copper?

Pure copper, also known as purple copper, is a copper material with a copper content of 99.95%. It has a very high purity and contains minimal impurities such as phosphorus, arsenic, and aluminum. It has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, ductility, plasticity, and corrosion resistance, but poor strength and hardness.

Jintian Copper has established a national-level enterprise technology center, a national-level postdoctoral research station, and an academician workstation. It has developed high-strength, high-conductivity, and high-precision new high-end copper alloy materials, promoted product upgrades, built technological competitiveness, and currently has more than 100 authorized invention patents, and has presided over or participated in the formulation of nearly 30 national/industry standards and won more than 10 national and provincial-level scientific and technological progress awards.

The electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of pure copper are second only to silver, and it is widely used in the production of conductive and heat-conducting equipment. The applications of pure copper are much wider than pure iron. Each year, 50% of copper is electrolytically refined into pure copper for use in the electrical industry. It is mainly used to produce electric generators, busbars, cables, switchgear, transformers, and other electrical equipment, as well as heat exchangers, pipelines, and flat plate collectors of solar heating devices, and other heat-conducting equipment.
